Amstel Showtime Ends In Style
On the night of 5 October, the wannabes shone and the stars shone even brighter at the Lagos show and final leg of this year’s Amstel Malta Showtime series.
The multi-city show, which featured some of the biggest names in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, had stars like Tuface Idibia, Wizkid and laughter merchant I Go Dye, turn up to entertain the audience made up largely of students of tertiary institutions in Lagos.
There was also a cameo appearance by Nollywood actress Funke Akindele, who teamed up with Wizkid to re-enact the video of music act’s hit track, Pakurumo.
The surprise appearance of Tuface, whose presence was initially hidden by the hooded sweat-shirt, turned out to be one of the high points of the night. The Benue State-born entertainer held the crowd spellbound as he took them through a medley of his hit songs.
The night also featured rib cracking comedy from comedian, I Go Dye. He was in his usual elements, dishing jokes upon jokes to an appreciative audience.
Stars like Naeto C, Flavour, P Square, 9ice and Tiwa Sawage had headlined previous events in Benin, Port Harcourt and Ibadan earlier in the year.
While the galaxy of stars did not disappoint, the upcoming acts who slugged it out in the singing, dancing and comedy competitions also gave the crowd something to cheer about.
The fact that members of the audience were the judges in the competition combined to make for a very exciting session.
The winners in all the categories got N500,000, a brand new ipad while the first and second runners up got N150,000 and N100,000 respectively.
