International School, Lagos, ISL and Doregos Private Academy, Ejigbo, will today battle for honours in the final of the Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya Basketball Competition at the indoor court of University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos.
To qualify for today’s grand finale, coach Ijeoma Ernest-tutored ISL boys out-dunked hard-fighting Airforce Secondary School, Ikeja, while Doregos narrowly edged out the surprise package team of this second edition of the competition, Sacred Heart College 26-23 in the semi final matches played on Wednesday.
In the quarter-final matches that took place earlier in the day, ISL defeated St Gregory’s College 34-14, Airforce Secondary School got the better of Loral Group of Schools 29-8, Sacred Heart College shocked Corona Group of Schools, who are the defending champions, 27-25. The last fixture in the round of eight saw Doregos Private Academy defeat Towergate Private Schools by 33-13 points.
The third place match will be played between Airforce Secondary School and Sacred Heart College. This will be followed by an exhibition game between the female team of ISL and Doregos, before the male teams of both teams slug it out in the final match.
