Olukoya Cup Excites ISL Coach

After their victorious performance at this year’s final of Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya Basketball Competition, coach Ijeoma Ernest of International School, Lagos, ISL, said that the triumph was the best thing to happen to him.

The long time coach of ISL boys disclosed this after they out-dunked their counterparts from Doregos Private Academy, Ejigbo by 39-16 points in the grand finale held at the indoor court of University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos at the weekend.

He said: “I am very excited to finally win this competition today after we failed to triumph in the first edition of the tourney when it was held in 2010. It has not be easy but we are glad to finally win today after all the hardwork and dedication of the players.”

In the third place match played same day, Airforce Secondary School, Ikeja defeated Sacred Heart College by 30-22 points, while an exhibition match between female players of both fianlists team ended in favour of the girls from Doregos Private Academy, Ejigbo.

Meanwhile, ISL’s influential captain, Morofonlu Ogundipe was voted the Most Valuable Player, MVP of the tourney, while the Highest Scoring Award also went to ISL’s Samuel Nwawolo. Towergate Secondary School was voted the Best Behaved Team of the competition.

The occasion was witnesssed by many dignitaries among which were head of Pastors and Ministers of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Tayo Adedini.
