Hotel Manager Steals 3 Bottles Of Drinks
A hotel manager in Solitude Hotel and Spa situated at 2, T.Y Danjuma Street, Victoria Island, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, has been arraigned before an Igbosere magistrate’s court on a two-count charge of stealing his employer’s three bottles of drinks.
The police at Maroko Division, Eti Osa, Lagos, alleged in the charge 1/38/2012 that the accused was arrested following a complaint by the management of Solitude Hotel and Spa, Victoria Island, that their hotel manager in charge of night duty stole their three bottles of Black Label drink valued N10,000, Red Label drink valued N1,500 and one Archers Schnapps worth N10,000, all totalling N21,500.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to the crime.
“I drank a bottle of Black Label and Red Label drinks with the barman now at large and I took the other Archers Schnapps bottle to a party to share with my friends. I promise not to do so again,” he allegedly told the police.
The offences the accused committed, according to the prosecutor, Sergeant Babatope Julius, contravenes sections 409 and 285 laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him and the magistrate, Mr. W.B. Balogun, granted him bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety.
He adjourned the matter while the defendant was taken to Ikoyi Prison pending when he meets the bail conditions.
