Eko 2012: It Is Gold Or Nothing, Lagos Football Coach Assures Fans


Assistant Coach of Team Lagos, Bankole Olowookere has warned other states to forget gold medal in the male football event of the forthcoming Lagos National Sports Festival tagged “Eko 2012’’.

Olowookere told P.M.NEWS  that the crop of players invited to camp are in high spirits and ready to give their best when the event kicks off next month in Lagos.

The dark-skinned coach, who is hoping to handle professional clubs after the National Sports Festival, boasted that Team Lagos are good enough to withstand any state during the event.

Having played a number of matches in the recent past, Olowookere is confident that Lagos will definitely win the gold medal in the football event.

“We are getting better day by day and most of the  friendly matches we played recently showed that Team Lagos are ready for the event. We are aware of the task ahead but we are not afraid of any state,” he said.

Olowookere said  it will be a huge disappointment if Team Lagos win anything less than gold and called on Lagosians to come out and give Team Lagos moral support throughout the event.

“We are not only going to win a gold medal in the football event, we want to come first on the medals table. We want our fans to support us and cheer us to victory during the event. Lagos is hosting and we cannot afford to slip. We are not winning gold medal in football event alone but we are also targeting gold medal in all sports in which we are participating,” he said.
