Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ and Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN Lagos chapter have expressed shock over the death of Vanguard’s photo journalist, Mr. Sylva Eleanya, who passed away in his sleep early Sunday morning.
Chairman of NUJ Lagos Chapter, Deji Elumoye told P.M. News early today that he received the news with shock, saying that the late Eleanya has contributed immensely to the union and sport fraternity in Lagos when he was alive.
“The entire members of the NUJ Lagos chapter received the news of the death of Sylva with a great shock and it is sad that we lost Sylva at this moment. His death was a great shock to all of us both NUJ and SWAN. I pray that God will give his family the fortitudes to bear the loss,” said Elumoye.
In his own comment, SWAN Chairman, Fred Edore described late Sylva as hardworking and jovial person when he was alive.
“To the best of our knowledge and from all available information he looked hale and hearty and was at work till late on Saturday, 20 October before the painful death occurred. Sylva was a valuable photo journalist, a vibrant member of SWAN, an amiable person. We shall all miss him,” Edore said.
