Robbers Invade Oko Oba

Armed robbers, mostly youths in their early 20s, have invaded New Oko Oba in Abule Egba, a suburb of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.

The robbers, who operated from house to house in Subola Street on Tuesday night, moved to Akinsola Street, an adjourning street on Wednesday night.

Speaking with P.M.NEWS, one of the victims of the robbery, a female food seller who did not want her name published, said the robbers entered their compound around 3 a.m. on the fateful night through the back door and ordered all the tenants to open their doors before they (robbers) broke down their doors.

“The robbers came to our house around 3 a.m. through the back yard and broke the back door before entering the passage. They ordered all the tenants to open their doors and that if they force any door open. They also threatened to kill anybody in the room.

“We all complied and they moved from room to room and collected all our phones, money and jewellery.”

The victim further stated that after robbing all the tenants in their house, the robbers moved to the next compound and repeated the same thing.

At Akinsola Street, the robbers also robbed occupants of a house where a single mother of four lives, but the woman was not in the house when the robbers came calling. Her younger brother who was at home was beaten and had his head broken with the butt of the gun.

The victim, who refused to disclose his name for fear of further attack gave thanks to God for saving his life.

“I thank God that it was only my head that was broken and I did not die because those robbers are just small boys and are ready to kill anybody,” he said.
