Chinwendu Ihezuo, who scored six goals for the Falconets at the recently concluded U-17 Women’s World Cup in Azerbaijan, says she is praying for the team and hopes luck shines on the team.
The Falconets were denied a final ticket at the U-17 World Cup and Ihezuo said that she is yet to come to terms that her goals haul could not help the team with a final berth.
Ihezuo said the Super Falcons have what it takes to retain the trophy, but believes luck would play a vital role in their quest.
She likened the Falcons’ quest to theirs at the U-17 World Cup, where they thought they would run riot against France, who were eventual champions but they were just unlucky.
“We put 11 goals past the hosts but we didn’t let that get into our heads but when it mattered most we experienced goal drought,” she said.
