Sports Festival: Ogunjobi Targets Football Final


Chairman of Osun State Football Association, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi has disclosed that his target is to play Team Lagos in the final of the football event of the National Sports Festival, tagged ‘Eko 2012’ scheduled for next month in Lagos.

The former Secretary of Nigeria Football Association, NFA told P.M.News on Monday that Team Osun are not coming to Lagos for jamboree, but boasted that their target is to win gold medal in the football event.

“We are preparing hard to achieve our aim in Lagos. We are aware of the task ahead, especially against the hosts, Lagos. I know that Lagos has been working hard to win gold medal in the football event, but my prayer is to play Team Lagos in the final. That’s when we can teach Lagos how to play good football,” he said.

The former NFA scribe, disclosed that Team Osun will play many friendly matches across the South West of Nigeria as part of their preparation for the Sports Festival. The ex-Shooting Stars captain, said there are some areas that the team need to work on if their dream must come to reality.

“We are going to play more friendly matches to fortify the team. Osun have a balanced team presently, but there is still room for improvement. The spirit in camp is quite encouraging and our boys are in good frame of mind to confront any state during the Sports Festival.

Ogunjobi said the Lagos Sports Festival will be glamorous and eventful, considering the fact that Lagos is a mecca of sports amongst the states in Nigeria, saying many talents will be discovered for future international championship.

He however thanked the Osun State governor, Rafiu Aregbesola for the moral and financial support given to Team Osun during their zonal elimination of the Sports Festival held in Ekiti State recently.

Ogunjobi said the players and coaching crew have promised to deliver the gold medal to Aregbesola, who has been supporting the team since he assumed power in the state.
