Former Assistant Coach of Super Falcons, Babatunde Oluwole, has warned the Nigerian national female team to remain focused and disciplined as they continue their quest to defend the African Women Championship, AWC, they won last time in South Africa.

The AWC is currently going on in Equatorial Guinea. The Falcons, handled by Coach Kadiri Ikhana won their first match of the tournament against arch rivals, the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon 2-1 on Monday in a Group B match. They are billed to play Ethiopia this evening.

Oluwole, popularly known as Santana noted that the Nigerian ladies started well by scaling one of the hurdles in their way, warning that they still have a long way to go.

Oluwole, who is in charge of Tokas Queen Football Club of Lagos, said the more Falcons progress, the tougher it will be for them, adding that if the team remain focused and play to their coach’s instruction, the sky wil be their limit.

“The Falcons are one of the favourites to win the tournament, but we should not forget the fact that a competition of this magnitude can pull surprises if care is not taken. I did not watch their first game but the report I read showed that the ladies are hungry for success, “he said.

Oluwole advised the coaching crew to correct the grey areas in the team before their next match. He noted that the coach needs to review their first match and come out with another strategy for their next match.
