LAWMA DefiesCourt Order, Demolishes Disputed Property

The land tussle between the late herbal practitioner, Professor Ojeih and Lagos state Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, took a dramatic twist this morning when four policemen from Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos demolished a three bedroom bungalow, the fence and gate at 22, Ijaiye Road, Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

According to Fred Aigbadumah, the late Ojeih, owner of Iris Medical Foundation who instituted the case before his death, decided to settle the matter out of court but when it did not work, he went back to Ikeja High Court presided over by Justice A.A. Taiwo and the next date of mention is 5, December, 2012.

The counsel said when LAWMA faild to obey an order of the court that the status quo be maintained, Iris Medical Foundation went to court and obtained an interlocutory injuction.

He claimed that LAWMA disregarded all court orders today when they brought four policemen to the disputed property to supervise its demolition.

He said the illegal demolition will be reported to the court while regretting that LAWMA was rushing construction work at the site by recting structures.
