Team Rufai Rule Football Clinic

Team Rufai have won the final of the Milo Football Clinic at the Campus Square mini stadium, Lagos Island, Lagos on Saturday.

The match, which ended 1-1 at full time was decided on penalties. Team Rufai defeated Team Cardoso 5-4 in the penalty shootout.

The football clinic, which began in Calabar was also played at Owerri, Ijebu-Ode and Ibadan but climaxed in Lagos.

The novelty match was exciting, entertaining and dramatic. Young players between ages 9-12 were selected to play the finals after a rigorous selection exercise.

Former Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, who anchored the clinic, was excited that the event finished with a lot of promises for the youngsters. “We have seen a lot of promising youngsters here today. We must thank everyone for their support all through the clinic,” he said.

The clinic was the third edition of youth football clinic and Rufai is hopeful that some of the footballers can progress to become great stars in the nearest future.

Martin Woolnough, MD/CEO, Nestle Nigeria said the company was committed to elevating football at the grassroots. “Having supported basketball for many years, we have decided to contribute to the development of football,” he said.

All the participants in the final were awarded certificates and school bags. The winners were given the sum of N20, 000 each while the runners up got N10, 000.
