Agbede Clarifies Position On Drivers’ Uniform

The Lagos State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers ( NURTW), Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede, has debunked rumours making the rounds that the state government  plans to sell uniforms to commercial bus drivers and conductors in the state.

The Lagos NURTW boss described the information as false, because the state government has not planned such a thing.

He explained that the discussion the state government had with leaders of the two recognised transport unions in the state, the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) on the issue, was that they should go and deliberate and come out with the design of uniforms to be worn by drivers and conductors.

He disclosed further that the two unions would also be responsible for the production and sale of the uniforms to their members and not the state government.

Alhaji Agbede said discussion is already going on between the leaders of the two transport unions and very soon the design of the new uniforms acceptable to all will be unveiled.

He assured that the NURTW as a law abiding union would continue to partner with the state government to ensure law and order in the state.
