West Africa’s biggest Pro-Am golf tournament, the Glo Golf Tour, sponsored by Globacom, tees off today in Asaba, Delta State, South South Nigeria.
By Wednesday’s evening, the Asaba Golf Club venue of the Tee off, was a bee-hive of activities as close to 100 pros have already arrived Asaba for the tournament. Some of the them were seen on the golf course for their practice sessions.
Among the pros who are playing at the tournament are Amos Cobbler, Ghana’s Number 1 golfer, Ebela Desire, Cameroun’s Number 1 golfer, Edet Umoh of Nigeria and other top ranked pros from Ghana, Cameroun, Senegal and Nigeria.
Speaking after one of his practice sessions at the Club yesterday, Cobbler said that because of the huge purse of the event, the Glo Golf Tour promises to be the most keenly contested.
Cobbler said he was ready to clinch the Toyota Corolla special prize for hole-in-one as well as the star prize.
The pros are playing for N15 million in Asaba, N10 million in Sagamu, N15m in Abuja and N20m in the grand finale in Asaba. Category One amateurs will also win exciting prizes during the tour.
