Bureau De Change Robbery: Police Declare 2 Wanted

The Police Command in Kano State, Northwest Nigeria, has declared wanted two identified major suspects in Tuesday’s robbery incident at the popular WAPA Bureau de Change.

This is contained in a statement issued on Wednesday in Kano by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP. Magaji Majiya.The statement noted that “the command, in its effort to arrest the culprits, is working closely on the clues at the scene of the robbery. So far, two identified major suspects have been declared wanted.”

It stated that “some months ago, the command deployed 30 armed policemen at strategic exits at the WAPA market.

“However, it regretted that two weeks after the deployment, the WAPA chairman and some officials of the market went to the command headquarters and requested the withdrawal of the policemen around the market.

“They said the police presence was disturbing their customers and that a woman had a miscarriage as a result.

“Based on the request, the police commissioner directed the withdrawal of the men to the nearest police stations at Fagge.” It added that WAPA was not a conventional market but harbours residential houses and that the robbers came from behind the area and walked to the house, posing as customers.

“They quietly entered and locked the house where transaction was going on and subsequently trekked to where they parked their motorcycle and sped off into Fagge Quarters.”

The police urged the public to make use of the command’s emergency lines for quick response to any distress call.
