Hamzat's Assassination: Ogun Compol Takes Over Investigation

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye, has ordered his men to speed up investigation into the murder of the former Ikejal Local Government chairman, Toyin Hamzat and forward the case file to his office so that the culprits could be arraigned in court.

Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Muyiwa Adejobi, who disclosed this also confirmed that the car in which Hamzat was killed is in police custody at Eleweran, Abeokuta.

He added that the five suspects arrested in connection with the murder were still in the custody of the police.

Meanwhile, the Bobakeye age-group of Ijebuland has promised to give N1 million to the family of the late former Special Adviser to Governor Babatunde Fashola on Health.

Hamzat was a member of the Bobakeye age-group before he was killed by unknown gunmen at Sabo, Sagamu, Ogun State, southwest Nigeria, on Sunday.

The secretary of the group, Keye Abiodun Banjo, said the money will be generated from the insurance scheme of the group.

He explained that the insurance scheme covers death or member’s deformity in the case of an accident.

Banjo said the late Hamzat was a financial member of the Bobakeye age-group of Ijebu Ode and the group will soon meet to ensure the money was release to his family.
