Ojez Celebrates Ejike At 50

Actor Ejike Asiegbu, who clocked 50 years a few days ago, was celebrated during this month’s O’Jez Entertainment Forum Award at the club in the premises of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, yesterday.

The boss of O’Jez Entertainment, Joseph Odobeatu, said the event was special, not just because Ejike Asiegbu is a member of the O’Jez family, but because it is not everyday one attains the golden year. “So it was very special for us as we celebrated a film icon.”

Odobeatu described the actor as “one with a big heart, a fearless fighter, activist and humanitarian: that is Ejike Asiegbu and we all pray he lives much longer for the next generation to tap from this icon.”

An elated Asiegbu said: “When members of your constituency decide to honour you, no honour is greater than it. I am pleased and I am excited.”

The O’jez Entertainment Forum Awards which has been on for over a decade has played host to dignitaries such as Toyin Subair, Peoples Democratic Party national chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, Zach Orji, Ken Calebs Olumese, Fidelis Duker, Sikiratu Sindodo among many others. Odobeatu said: “O’jez Entertainment Award is the only monthly award in existence in the country at the moment. How have we been able to do this for over a decade now? It’s simple; it’s our resolve to ensure we celebrate Nigerians who have done well in their chosen career. That has been the driving force. And for one to qualify to be a recipient of the O’jez award, that personality must have excelled in his chosen career.”
