The Kaduna State contingent to the 18th National Sports Festival (NSF) have decried the poor menu provided by organisers of the festival at the Games Village at the University of Lagos (Unilag).

They also complained of poor distribution of water at the Fagunwa Hall of the university.

Some of the athletes who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said that there was need for the replacement of some bad electrical fittings in the hostels.

Some of the athletes also said they may be compelled to sleep outside the hostels because of the harsh smell of the painting that was still fresh.

Ezekiel John, a hockey player, said the upper floor of the hall could do with a better water distribution system, noting that something had to be done so that athletes would not have to go downstairs whenever they needed water.

“The upper floor of the Fagunwa Hall has a problem with water. We are forced to always move downstairs each time we need water.

“That is not good enough, the officials should please correct the situation. The quantity of food given to us is also very little and not enough for me,” he added.

“We were given yam and tea this morning, which is not good as breakfast. We ought to eat something light because it helps us to move and also stay fit.

“I did not eat the yam and egg because I needed something that will keep me alert. A nutritionist who knows the rudiments could have planned better dieting for the athletes,” he said.
