Nigerian Sports Award: Mikel Named Sports Man Of The Year

Chelsea’s John Mikel Obi on Thursday emerged the Sports Man of The year at the first Nigerian Sports Awards held at the Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Tunde Oyedele reports.

Mikel, who won double awards at the ceremony, was earlier named the Footballer of the year, male category by the Awards Commitee, headed by Ikeddy Iziguzo, the Chairman, Editorial Board of Vanguard Neswpapers.

Barrister Dudu Orumen received the awards on behalf of the England-based star. The Special Sports Personality of the Year award went Yakubu Adesokan, who had the highest votes ahead of paralympic colleague, Adefemi Ojo.
