Eaglets' Qualification Excites Ugbade

Assistant coach of Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets, Nduka Ugbade is glad to have helped the team book a ticket to the CAF U-17 African Junior Championship billed for Morocco next year.

The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria on Sunday qualified for next year’s African Junior Championship after a superb 2-0 win in Mali.

The Manu Garba tutored side thus qualified for the main tournament that would hold next April on a 4-0 aggregate victory after the first leg match had ended 2-0 in Calabar, Nigeria.

Speaking on RainbowFM yesterday, Ugbade said that he is very glad to be part of the coaching crew that return the country’s junior team to the African championship after her absence in the past two editions.

“Am happy that we have finally qualified the team for the main tournament holding next year. It’s going to be a different level of experience and exposure for the players in Morocco but I hope they can play at the level we played throughout the qualifiers in order to better their performance,” the former junior world cup winner said.

Ugbade, however, pointed out that with more friendly matches and traning camp abroad that the Golden Eaglets are capable of winning the trophy come next year.
