B Mohammed of the High Court of Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, sitting in Apo, Abuja, on Thursday, December 6, 2012, issued a bench warrant against notorious land scammer, Ibrahim Mohammed Bashir, who was to be arraigned on a twelve count charge of fraud and forgery of title documents of a property at plot 307 B05 Utako District under the Federal Capital Territory Administration.

Two others who were to be arraigned alongside Mohammed were Ibrahim Mohammed Kamba and Barrister Steve Imokhe.

One of the charge reads: “That you Ibrahim Mohammed Kamba, Ibrahim Mohammed Bashir and Steve Imokhe on or about the 25th of July 2010 at Abuja within the jurisdiction of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory with intent to defraud attempted to obtain the title documents of the property situate and located at plot 307 B05 Utako District from the Federal Capital Territory Administration under the false pretence that the property was sold to you by one Emmanuel Adebayo which representation you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1 (1) (a) and punishable under Section (1)3 of the Advance Fee Fraud and other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006”.

After the court granted the prosecution leave to prefer charges against the three accused persons, counsel to Imokhe, Abdulamid Mohammed informed the court that his client’s inability to appear for the day’s proceedings was as a result of his health challenge resulting to his hospitalization.

But Mohammed Bashir was neither present in court nor was he represented by a counsel.

Prosecution counsel, C.O Ugwu, informed the court of the need to prefer a separate charge for Ibrahim Mohammed Kamba and issue bench warrant against the other two accused that deliberately refused to appear in court for the arraignment.

After completing all necessary documentations, he fenced the plot of land, but that sometime in 2010 when he went to develop the plot, Alhaji Kamba came with thugs and chased his workers out of the land insisting that the plot was his.

After several efforts to ensure that the issue was resolved amicably, he said Alhaji Kamba insisted that he be paid N15million to relinquish his interest on the said property and based on this, filed a frivolous suit in court through one Bashir Ibrahim.
