GLO/CAF Award: Drogba Makes Top 3 Shortlist

The confederation of African Football (CAF) has named Didier Drogba among the top three candidates for this year’s Glo/CAF African player of the year.

Reigning footballer of the year, Ivory Coast and Manchester city Midfielder Yaya Toure is joined by the fellow Ivorian, Drogba and Cameroonian midfielder Alexander Song.

Drogba had an eventful 2011-2012 season with both club and country. He scored the equaliser and winning penalty to give Chelsea the European Champions League title and missed a penalty in 2012 African Cup of Nations, AFCON final during regulation time. His goals took Ivory Coast to 2012 Nations Cup finals were they finished  second to Zambia. He scored the winning goal in the English FA cup final for Chelsea in what became his last season with the English club before he signed for Shanghai Shenhua in China.

The winner of the award will be announced on 20 December at the Awards Gala in Accra, Ghana.
