Oyo NURTW Chieftain, Tokyo Detained At SCID

The Oyo State Police Command has clarified that the factional Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Oyo State Chapter, Alhaji Lateef Akinsola, alias Tokyo, was arrested around 2 p.m. yesterday in the office of the state Commissioner of Police at Eleyele, Ibadan.

This clarification was made by the spokesman of the Command, Ayodele Lanade. “Yesterday, Tokyo came to the Command to see the Commissioner of Police, Mubu Joseph Mbu. It was inside the commissioner’s office that he was arrested because he has been on the wanted list  of the police. He was declared wanted as a result of various criminal allegations levelled against him, ” Lanade said.

He refused to disclose when Tokyo would be charged to court, saying: “Tokyo is being detained at State CID, Iyaganku, Ibadan. As regards how long he will stay with us, no one knows. We are currently investigating him and it is after the investigation that we will know what next, whether to release him or prosecute him,” Lanade stated.

The police spokesman also confirmed that the Command was on the trail of Mukaila Lamidi, alias Auxiliary, adding that he would be arrested if found.

“The police declared Tokyo and Auxiliary wanted. So, we are still looking for Auxiliary and anywhere we find him, we will arrest him and the law will take its course,” he said.
