Poser Over Bisi Ibidapo-Obe’s Baby

On 30 November, actress Bisi Ibidapo-Obe gave birth to a baby girl at a Lagos hospital. It was supposed to be a fun-filled moment for the actress, but it turned out to be the contrary. A day of rash comments about the true paternity of Bisi’s baby.

Bisi had claimed in an October interview that Dino Melaye, a former member of the House of Representatives, who she met in April got her pregnant after a whirlwind romance. The actress said she informed the married ex-legislator who denied the pregnancy and she later went underground. But seven months after, the actress delivers, sparking doubts on her claims about the baby’s true paternity.  Many critics think the Bisi’s early delivery has validated Dino’s claim that he is not the baby’s biological father. If she truly got pregnant for the former lawmaker in April, the baby would not be due until the next two to three months, they argued.

Meanwhile, Dino who has consistently denied Bisi’s tales has only reacted via Twitter to the arrival of the the actress’ baby girl in form of a Yoruba proverb: Bi iro ba lo fun ogun odun, otito yio le ba (If falsehood travelled fast for 20 years, the truth will catch up with it shortly). He said he stood by his previous statement. “I am not distracted one bit about this joke and imaginary creation of a serial liar. I am not her first victim and may not be the last,” he said.
