Eso: Oyo High Court To Hold Special Session
The Oyo State High Court will on Monday hold a special session in honour of the late Justice Kayode Eso.
The court’s Deputy Chief Registrar 1, Mrs Olatunji Daniel, stated this in a statement issued on Thursday in Ibadan.
“His Lordship, a retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria was the first Chief Judge of the State High Court.
According to the statement, “A special court session will hold in his honour at Court 1, High Court of Justice, Ring Road on Monday, 17 December at 10a.m prompt.’’
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Eso died in the early hours of 16 November in a London Hospital.
In another development, the Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Badejoko Adeniji, has declared that the Oyo State High Court will be on Christmas recess from 24 December to 2 January, 2013.
NAN reports that Adeniji stated this in a notice she issued in Ibadan on Thursday.
“In exercise of the powers conferred on me by paragraph 4(c ) of Order 45 of the High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2010 and by the virtue of all other powers enabling in that behalf, I, Badejoko Olateju Adeniji, Chief Judge of Oyo State, do hereby appoint the period commencing from the 24 December and ending on 2 January, 2013 both dates inclusive, as Christmas Recess of the High Court of Justice of Oyo State of Nigeria,” the notice said.
It, however, added that civil actions may be heard during the period where such actions were urgent or if a judge so wished at the request of all the parties concerned.
