Kwara Athlete Ready For Calabar Games

In her reaction to the dismal performance of Team Kwara in the track and field events at the Eko 2012 Games, a Kwara State athlete, Margereth Bolufawi, has vowed to win a gold medal in the 100m event at the Calabar Games.

Bolufawi, who competed in the 4×100 women relay race, said that she will be mature enough to compete for the gold medal that is at stake in the 100m event in Calabar.

“I know that I will be mature enough to compete for the gold medal of the 100m race at the next edition in Calabar. By that time I must have garnered more experience that will enable me to compete with older athletes from other states,” said Bolufawi.

She added: “I am just 16 years old at the moment but I will be 18 years old at the Calabar Games. I’m a bit scared competing with older athletes in a competition of this magnitude but I know that I will be in a proper frame of mind in Calabar.”
