Nigeria Ready To Defend Title —Coach

As the Copa Lagos 2012 Beach Soccer championship kicks off at the Eko Atlantic Beach later today, Head Coach of Nigeria beach soccer team, Adamu Audu, has disclosed that his team have what it takes to defend the title won last year.

Speaking early today, Audu declared that the Sand Eagles would successfully retain the trophy in this edition.

“We have carefully selected experienced players that can play against any team in this tournament. We won the championship last year and I believe that we can win this edition again,” said Audu.

“We are not afraid of any of our opponents and we will make sure that the trophy does not leave Nigeria. Portugal, Lebanon and Argentina are no threats to us because we know much about them.”

Six times European champions, Portugal will take on South American giants Argentina in the opening match of the tournament, while the reigning champions, Nigeria will trade tackles with the Cedars of Lebanon in the second match of the day at 5p.m.
