‘Tourism Can Be Nigeria’s Biggest Revenue Earner’

Nigeria’s tourism potential was brought to the fore at a partnership signing agreement between Golden Alpha Networks Nigeria and Nature’s Essence Inc, Canada in Lagos recently. The agreement is in the areas of tourism promotion of Nigeria’s cultural festivals, national and world heritage sites, music and films in Canada.

Addressing media executives at the press briefing, the CEO of Nature’s Essence Inc, Canada, Mr. Osahon Benjamin Idonije, said: “Tourism is all about nature and Nigeria has vast tourism potential that are yet untapped and needs to be explored and appreciated internationally. It is in this regard that we are partnering with Golden Alpha Networks Nigeria to establish excursion programmes for Canadian tourists to come and explore Nigeria’s nature reserves and appreciate its cultural heritage”.

“We are going to support relevant government agencies in revitalising, preserving, projecting and promoting Nigeria’s cultural festivals, national and world heritage sites, and also attracting foreign investments from Canada.

The CEO of Golden Alpha Networks Nigeria, Mr. Kenneth Okonjo, responded by saying that “tourism in Nigeria has the potential to be a big revenue earner like crude oil. Our partnership with Nature’s Essence Inc, Canada, will bring about quality packages for the local and international market required for the promotion of Nigeria’s tourism, arts and culture”.

Okonjo also informed that Golden Alpha Networks Nigeria has concluded plans to launch its four-year Tourism and Cultural programme that will boost the promotion of Nigerian festivals, arts and culture, national and world heritage sites internationally.

“This includes regularly undertaking researches and tourism policy analyses that would mainstream the people’s cultural values, and imputing a vista towards excellent and impeccable service delivery, as well as financing cultural projects that would provide employment opportunities for people, support the Nigerian re-branding project and improving the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Canada”, he said.
