Reports: Chime, Enugu Governor had heart surgery

Sullivan Chime, Enugu State governor

Sullivan Chime, governor of Nigeria’s eastern state of Enugu had a heart surgery in the United States of America in 2005, The PUNCH has reported.

He was then the attorney-general of the state.

His predecessor, Chimaroke Nnamani who installed him in 2007, paid for the surgery, according to the newspaper.

“His (Chime) heart was very flat and when he complained to Chima (Nnamani), he (Nnamani) had no option but to help a friend,”an aide of Chime was quoted to have said.

Both Chime and Nnamani were school friends at the College of Immaculate Conception, Enugu, where they had their secondary education.

But they are now political adversaries.

Chime had been out of the country since September 20, as stated by the state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Chuks Ugwoke. There have been several death rumours about him and in one desperate instance, the government mopped up an entire edition of THENEWS magazine, dwelling on Chime’s illness and his disappearance from his duty post.

According to reports, he is said to be on admission in a hospital in India.
