Woman returns stolen kids to police

A Nigerian middle aged woman, Eloho Igwe who allegedly stole two children last week in Benin City, Edo State has surrendered herself to the police in Benin.

The stolen children have also been reunited with their families.

The two kids, Faith Omoruyi (5) and Gold Peter (4), were allegedly abducted at Useh Market and Useh Secondary School by Eloho who took them to Mechanic village in Warri, Delta State for unknown reasons.

Eloho told journalists that she took the children with the assistance of one Efe Ogaga, but that she had to return the children to their parents and. surrender herself to the police due to pressure mounted on her by her family members and neighbours.

Confirming the report, Edo Police Command spokesman, DSP Tony Airhuoyo, said the suspects would soon be charged to court.

In another development, an Ikpoba-Okha Magistrate Court in Benin, has sentenced four persons to three years imprisonment each with hard labour for illegal sales of landed property belonging to a community.

The four convicted persons, David Aifesehi, Matthew Oviasogie, Friday Itota and Prince Austine Ehue, said to be subordinates to late traditional ruler of the community, Prince David Ehue, were charged on a 22-count charge of false possession and illegal sales of land belonging to Evbo-Uzama Community, an offence punishable under section 419 of the Criminal Code Cap 48 Vol.II Laws of the Bendel State of Nigeria 1976 applicable to Edo State.

Delivering judgment, presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Igho Braimoh, found the accused persons guilty and sentenced them accordingly.
