2 Die, Several Injured In Xmas Day Accidents

Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Tuesday evening announced the death of two passengers in separate road accidents in different parts of the country.
The FRSC also said several passengers sustained various degrees of injury.
One of the accidents involving a Mazda bus with registration number XU 742 ABJ, occurred at kilometre 125 on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway at 6pm.
According to the FRSC, one person died while 12 others sustained injuries and were rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
It said the accident occurred as a result of a burst tyre.
In another incident, the road safety organisation confirmed an accident which occurred on the same Lagos-Ibadan expressway with five of the eight occupants of the Toyota Liteace bus with registration number AKD 454 AL, sustaining serious injuries.
The organisation said the accident had occurred when one of the tires of the bus burst at the Onigai area, km 25 on Ibadan-Lagos expressway.
It said the bus contained four males and four females and that three of the males and two of the females were seriously injured in the crash and were also rushed to the UCH, Ibadan.
In like manner, one person was killed on the Jos-Bauchi road when a Golf car with registration number, AL 605 JJN, crashed at km 5.
The FRSC said two persons were in the car and that while one of them died, the other came out of the car unhurt.
The FRSC warned citizens of the country to be careful while using the road this festive season.
