Like the Dickensian Oliver Twist, Eko 2012 gold medallist in the female boxing event, Mutiat Adebayo, has vowed to continue winning laurels in the new year.

Adebayo crowned her efforts in 2012 with her victory over another Eko 2012 gold medallist, Aishat Oriyomi at the 4th Governor’s Belt held on the Boxing Day at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park Yaba, Lagos.

Adebayo told P.M.NEWS that she will do her utmost to have a year-long consistency as she did in the previous year.

“My exploits last year will be child’s play to what I plan to achieve this new year. I want to give my best to alll my fights this year because my target is to surpass what I achieved in 2013,” said Adebayo.

“I am already planning ahead because I know that there may be other competitions aside from the usual Governor’s Belt and the Hall of Fame shows. I am working very hard so that I will not be caught unawares if I may have to feature in more bouts than I did last year.”

Adebayo said she will not rest on her oars, adding that 2013 will have new challenges.

“Every year comes with its own challenges, and I have started to prepare for them. For instance, the people that I beat last year will be working hard so that they can avenge their losses to me this year.

“But I want to promise them that I will come tougher and stronger if I face any of them this year. I will be a hard nut to crack because I want to improve on my achievements,” concluded Adebayo.
