Nigerian Cultists Kill muslim Youth Leader

The unending fracas between two cult groups in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state, southwest Nigeria,  has claimed the life of Abdul Wasiu Olatokunbo, a youth leader in the town.

The entire town of Ijebu-Ode and its environs have been experiencing gunshots and killings in the last one week between the Eiye and the Aiye cult groups.

An unconfirmed report claimed that the crisis has claimed the lives of more than 12 people between Christmas eve and Sunday, 30 December.

Olatokunbo was, until his death, the Vice Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Ijebu-Ode chapter and an executive member of the NASFAT Youth Wing, Ijebu-Ode.

Our correspondent gathered that the deceased was hacked to death at the back of his house in Sabo-Molode area of Ijebu-Ode by yet to be identified people, believed to be cultists.

Confirming the death to P.M.NEWS on phone, the Chairman of NYCN, Ijebu-Ode, Alhadji (Prince) Rilwan Oduneye, expressed shock over the death of his deputy.

The death of the youth leader caused an uproar in the town as concerned angry residents asked why such a dastardly act was meted out to him.
