'We Are Committed To Grassroots Development'

The chairman of Agege Local Government, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, Alhaji Abdulkareem Ayodeji Jubreel, has reiterated the commitment of his administration to grassroots development in the council area.

The council boss, stated this during the week long activities to mark his 1,500 days in office at the local government secretariat recently.

The council chairman who gave account of his stewardship, enumerated the diverse infrastructure, environment and human developments which, according to him endeared his administration to the citizenry in his first term as the chairman till now.

He sited roads like Kamoru Alimi, Baale, Desalu Lewis, and Abeokuta streets among others that were repaired. He said he also  constructed drains at Adepegba Street, Road 4, Zone 1, LSDPC Medium Estate, Apata Street, Bankole and Kosoko streets and the built box culvert at Lewu Iju Street, Lewu Summonu Street, Oke Street, Idimangoro and others.

The council boss said a healthy and hygienic environment has been created in all the primary health centres(PHCs), adding that residents have also taken advantage of the free diabetic and hypertension screening programmes in the local government PHCs.

A member of the House of Representatives, representing Agege Federal Constituency, Dr Samuel Adejare, congratulated the chairman on his achievements, noted that the efforts of his administration are enough testimony of his love and commitment to service.

The highlight of the occasion was the provision by the council chairman of a school bus to take students in the local government area from designated bus stops to and from school free of charge daily.

He said every child in school uniform would have access to the bus, and teachers with their ID card can also board the bus free of charge.

The council boss said his administration is committed to child and youth development, citing the graduation ceremony of students from the vocational training centre in skills like hairdressing, catering and home management, computer training and others as part of his efforts to equip them for self-reliance.

Vehicles were also presented to all council executive officers, councillors, the CDC and the chieftaincy council.
