Da- Poet’s Singles Out
Young hip-hop music act, Da-Poet, has made his debut with two singles; Death of Autotunes (D.O.A) and Farabale. The songs are currently trending on music download sites.
Da-Poet, an undergraduate of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, said the songs have recorded considerable number of downloads. The singles were officially released Thursday.
“In few weeks’ time, the singles will be played on local and international radio stations. This will be followed by the release of a mix-tape. I will also embark on a tour of all major tertiary institutions in the country,” Da-Poet disclosed.
He is currently managed by Proxy Media Entertainment, PME, a company owned by Damilola Adebola.
“We are optimistic about Da-Poet’s musical prowess, and he is going to make a big statement in the industry. What we are doing at the moment is to build the necessary structures around him and very soon, he will be the next big thing,” Adebola boasted.
Sunlight Music Unveils Mr. Somebody
Sunlight Music has signed on gospel music act, Evangelist Harrison C. Harrison, whose singles will be released this month.
While unveiling the plans for the marketing of the songs–Balm of Gilead (a worship and medley), Power On Worship, Dance for Jesus and In His Presence, the chairman of the company, Mr. Sunday Nwankwo, disclosed that the company’s major objective is to recreate the industry.
“Sunlight Music is established to recreate the industry. Nigeria’s gospel music genre is growing, but there are some things we need to inject so that it can compete globally. With the release of these songs into the market, we are optimistic that our contribution will never go unnoticed,” he said.
Skales Drops My Baby
EME young rapper, Skales, has released the video of the hit track, My Baby.
The new video, the seventh official video from the EME collaboration album Empire Mates State of Mind, was premiered on 16 January.
My Baby which was produced by top music producer, Sarz, is a classic laid back hip-hop track and the video boasts of an impressive display of creativity and style. It was shot in the heart of Lagos and directed by talented cinematographer Michael Williams with close supervision from Skales.
Uche Jombo Picks Date For My Life, My Damage
Actress Uche Jombo Rodriguez has chosen 1 March for the premiere of My Life, My Damage, her much-awaited flick set to launch sultry actress, Tonto Dike’s box office experience at the cinemas.
The movie, produced by the actress turned producer Uche Jombo, is part of the trilogy of Damage movies which features Tonto Dike as the lead act, Bukky Wright, Kalu Ikeagwu, Biola Williams, James Tucker, Bobby Obobo and others.
The Damage trilogy is a movie collection of three distinct but interwoven stories aimed at advocacy for social issues with each story addressing important problems affecting individuals, families and societies at large.
My Life, My Damage, deals with the consequences of drug abuse and HIV/AIDS. It revolves around a young lady who lives a reckless life abroad as a drug addict and gets the rude shock when she discovers that she is HIV positive and now has to seek redemption for herself.
King Oogbodo Drops Woman Na Money
King Oogbodo has officially released his new song, Woman Na Money, which was produced by Shocker.
Woman Na Money comes after Inu N Bi Mi, which criticises the deplorable state of the nation. Both tracks will be included in the artiste’s second album, Colossus.
“My album will be released later this year, but before then, another single, Shake Your Waist will be on air,” Oogbodo said.
Flowssick, Record Label Part Ways
The management of Kollertunez Records have announced an end to the relationship between the label and hip-hop act, Abiola David Aina, otherwise known as Flowssick.
The decision, according to an official statement from Kollertunez, was inevitable. “We would like to state that we no longer have formal business relationship with Flowssick and that he can be reached by any means he choose to.”
The label maintained that it will continue to serve as a platform that nurtures upcoming acts, irrespective of its experience with Flowssick.
Flowssick was nominated in the Next Rated category at last year’s Headies, which Davido won.
Konga Drops New Work
Lawal Olalekan Olumo, better known as Konga, has returned to the music scene with the release of three new singles: As E Dey Hot, Star Lomo and Kilonwa, which features Vector. The songs are produced by Laylo.
The energetic singer, who hit the limelight with his appearance in Banky W’s video, Ebute Meta, has also been signed to Morgan Entertainment, the US-based company that will release his forthcoming album.
Konga is said to have signed a mouth-watering deal, which includes a sign-on fee, well furnished apartment in FESTAC and a brand new Cadillac STS 2007 car.
“It’s a big deal, and I want to use this opportunity to tell my fans that I’m back for real and will not disappoint them,” said Konga.
Konga started singing as a street freestyle artiste in Ebute-Mtta many years back. His style of music and lyrics is “Eno,” a variant of Yoruba language.
YM Drops Stay With Me
Wasiu Abiodun Elegberin, a.k.a YM, has dropped a new single, Stay With Me. The song is on his debut album, which he hopes to release soon.
Stay With Me, solely financed by him, features Flames, a popular singer.
The 21-year old singer said he dropped out of a tertiary institution when his dad, an auto repairer, could no longer pay his fees. He hopes to return to school when he hits it big musically.
YM, who started singing as a child in Vetland Primary School, Agege, Lagos, desires to work with Tuface, Banky W and Omawunmi.
Rita Dominic For Future Awards
The organisers of Future Awards have announced Tuface Idibia and Rita Dominic as some of the celebrities that will deliver speeches at this year’s Do-Something Pre-Awards Conference which will hold on 26 January at the University of Lagos.
Other entertainers expected at the event include Stephanie Okereke, Omawumi Megbele and Nse Ikpe-Etim.
The event will also feature seasoned veterans and mentors including chairman of Channels Television John Momoh, Mo Abudu, Joke Silva, Tunde Kelani, Shina Peters and Folorunsho Alakija.
“What’s great about this conference is that it also marks the launch of the eighth season of The Future Awards,” said Chude Jideonwo, the organiser of the event.
