Tiwa Savage Disowns “Ten Commandments”

Those who are minded to savage reputations hardly give a toss whether or not your surname is Savage. That exactly is the lesson Nigeria’s sexy singer, Tiwa Savage, has been taught.  On 15 January, a list of commandments for women was ascribed to her. These were not delivered on stone tablets, but via an interview she granted an online medium.

The purported words of advice read thus:

“1. Don’t be in a hurry to move out of ur parents house; 2. Don’t wait for a man before you start living. You can live a fulfilled life as a single woman; 3. Stay away from alcohol. It has killed others and you are not special; 4. Don’t entertain a wrong number call, especially at night. Its not the right way to find a lover; and 5. Develop a healthy eating habit. Always take breakfast and avoid sweets.

“6. Dress well: impression counts. People will judge you by the way you dress even before dey talk to you; 7. Don’t use sex as proof of love. Sex is no proof of love, he’ll leave you after the sex; 8. Don’t marry for the money, else you’ll become one of his possessions; 9. Add value to yourself – get a career. Don’t be fooled that a man will solve all your problems.

10. Beauty is not everything. If it is all you have, u’ll lose ur place to someone beautiful better more matured and competent than you..”

What followed was a gust of disapproval, not because the words were not noble but because they were presumably issued by a woman who is ineligible to do so –Tiwa, who still remains single.

With vitriol flowing her way at tsunami speed, the singer had to issue a denial via her Twitter handle @TiwaSavage.

“I have NEVER had an interview about giving advice 2 single women. As nice as d interview sounds, unfortunately, it is not from me…” Tiwa tweeted.

She added: “It is unfair 4 certain reputable media companies 2 mislead the general public with false info. 1 more thing, I am not married.”

The last item was a denial of the rumour that she’s married to her manager, Tee-Billz.
