Tribunal dismisses Petition Against Oshiomhole

The Edo State Election Petition Tribunal this morning struck out the petition filed by General Charles Airhiavbere, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the July 14, 2012 gubernatorial election in the state, challenging the pronouncement of Gov. Adams Oshiomhole as winner of the election.
Delivering the judgment that lasted for one hour 35 minutes, Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Muazu Pindinga, stated that the petition was bereft and devoid of any substance and ought to be demised.
Pindiga further noted that the Petitioner failed to establish his evidence as there were no witnesses to substantiate his alegatios of electoral non-compliance, adding that the first Respondent (Oshiomhole), won the election after wining over two-third majority of total votes cast,.
He further awarded the sum of N150,000 against Airhiavbere.
Governor Oshiomhole has described the judgement as victory for the people of the State.
