2015: Jonathan Gets Ohaneze’s Support

The Igbo socio-cultural political organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has said that it would go along with President’s Goodluck Jonathan’s decision to either run or not in 2015.

The newly elected national Publicity Secretary of the group, Prince Tonnie Oganah, who said this, added that the President was constitutionally qualified to seek re-election at the expiration of his tenure except he declined.

“However after Jonathan’s tenure is completed either in 2015 or 2019, it will be the turn of the Igbo to the produce the President.

“What we are saying is that the Igbo, being a major player in the country, are entitled to the Presidency and its their turn.

“If President Jonathan declines to run in 2015, it then makes it quicker for the Igbo. The bottom line is that Ohanaeze supports Jonathan in whatever decision he takes in 2015.

“Either way, we are not against him and will urge Nigerians to give him the support needed to make life better for Nigerians until his tenure expires,” he said.

Oganah said there was need for political parties to have the Igbo Presidency in mind in selecting their flag bearers for the election, adding that what the Igbo wanted was to get their fair share of leadership of the nation. He also said the organisation’s objective was to, through an igbo President, make the enterpreneural spirit of the average Nigerian to be realised.
