Victoria was crowned Miss Oyo Oge by Florence, the wife of the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

Miss Adeleye Opeyemi, 21, from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Miss Sodeinde Idowu, 17 from UI, and Miss Oluwasanmi Temitope.
Victoria, daughter of a Lagos based pastor, emerged second, third and fourth respectively.

Victoria was overwhelmed by emotions when she was announced the winner around 10:10pm.

She disclosed to P.M. NEWS that she felt great and on top of the world to have won the contest saying that she would put more effort to see that she becomes Miss World one day.

The contestants were made to go through three stages which included: team dance, talent display and the test of the individual intelligence.

Florence Ajimobi promised that the second edition of the programme would be held next year, adding that it is meant to promote and preserve the Yoruba culture.

“This event comes at a time when there is an influx of imported culture at the detriment of the Yoruba culture. We must not continue to accept foreign culture at our own detriment. We should return to our own culture and tradition if we want to develop. We should begin to wear our Yoruba attire and costume. As you can see me, since the beginning of this administration, I have not been wearing foreign cloths because I am a true Yoruba woman”.

To spice the event were performances from different dancing groups.

In attendance were Yoruba artists like Kamilu Kapo, Wale Akorede, Tayo Ijebu, Olaniyan Afonja alias Sanyeri, Muyiwa Ademola, Mr. Latin and Aderupoko.
