Taskforce Arrests Fake Soldier

Officials of the Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit have arrested a 29-year old fake soldier at Abule Egba area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.
The fake soldier, Ojoye Adebayo, from Ogun State, was arrested while riding his motorcycle on the expressway and he immediately brought out his identity card, saying he was a Lance Corporal.
The taskforce officials still arrested him for plying the prohibited route and brought him to its headquarters for questioning.
On interrogation, it was discovered that he was a fake military personnel who forged the identity card to enable him operate his okada business, as he had evaded arrest on some occasions after brandishing his identity card as a military officer.
Adebayo told P.M.NEWS that he was in deed a fake military man, saying that he forged the identity card so that he would evade arrest while riding his okada on the expressway.
He appealed to the taskforce to pardon him as he would not do such a thing again, saying he regretted his action.
Taskforce Chairman, Bayo Sulaiman said Adebayo would be arraigned in court for impersonation and for forging the identity card of the military, which he had been using in carrying out his business.
He added that he would also face trial for riding his motorcycle on prohibited route, which is against the road traffic law, adding that this would serve as deterrent to others.
Sulaiman warned others who forge identity cards of military and police personnel to desist from such act as the law would soon catch up with them.
