The first edition of U-16 Deji Jakande Football Championship kicked off last Saturday at the University of Lagos Sports Centre.
The competition is sponsored by Ayodeji Jakande, who is representing Somolu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
A total of eight teams registered for the three weeks competiton. Results of the matches played so far show that Smart Striker defeated Rocky FC 1-0, Santos Stars lost 1-2 to Damilola Taylor, Warrior FC beat Atlanta Feeders 3-2, Catch Them Young FC thrashed All Star 1-0.
Action continues this evening when Catch Them Young FC battle Warrior FC, while Atlanta Feeder tackle All Star FC.
Match coordinator, Taofeek Ganiu charged the participating teams to play the game according to the rules and regulations. He warned that any team violates trouble during or after the match will be sanctioned accordingly.
