The chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Captain Tunji Shelle, says the ruling Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, has lost focus, adding that his party would do everything possible to take advantage of its shortcoming in 2015.
He said Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola is not on the seat to serve Lagosians selflessly, while lamenting that the state’s Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, is being mismanaged between the governor and the leadership of his party.
“In the wake of the introduction of the militarised agencies in the state, we warned that Lagos State was tilting towards another military era. Indeed the modus operandi of state agencies as such LASTMA, KAI, and other taskforces have since vindicated our stance.
“It is now very worrisome and unless the despotic tendency of the governor Fashola led ACN government in the state is nipped in the bud now, Lagosians may wake up one day completely in bondage,” he said.
He chided the governor for preventing his commissioners or any senior civil servant from speaking to the press on any government issue or policy.
“We posit, and very strongly too, that the governor has skeletons in his cupboard and is desperate to cover up the misdeeds of his government.
“We assert that only an attempt to cover up misdeeds can necessitate the hoarding of information by a governor who had severally claimed to be running an open door government.
“Again, we counsel Governor Fashola to learn from President Jonathan and immediately domesticate the Freedom Of Information act,” he added.
