BOTCHED KIDNAP: Policeman Killed, Lebanese Escapes
Unidentified gunmen yesterday at about 10 p.m. killed a police corporal simply identified as Levi at Festac town, Lagos state, southwest Nigeria.
Information gathered from eyewitnesses has it that the assailants wanted to kidnap a female Lebanese who owns a sharwama joint called Delic at Festac when the incident happened.
When she suspected their intention, the owner of the joint whose name could not be ascertained, escaped.
But Levi, the policeman who was guarding the joint was killed and his rifle was taken away.An eyewitness at the scene, Omololu Omotosho, told P.M.NEWS that the three-man gang approached him and asked him for money and he told them he had no money on him and was let off the hook, only for him to hear the Lebanese woman screaming.
And before he knew what was amiss, they shot the policeman identified as Corporal Levi and escaped with his gun.
As at the time of filing this report, commercial activities have resumed at the sharwama shop.
