Ochei B/Ball Tourney: Lagos, Delta Qualify For Q/Final

After winning all the two matches they have played at the ongoing Victor Ochei Wheelchair Basketball Championship at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, Delta and Lagos states teams have qualified for the quarter final of the tournament.

Team Lagos captained by Australia-based Tope Ogunyemi Wednesday’s afternoon whitewashed their opponents from Benue State 72-1 points, while Delta State defeated the team from Togo 48-7 points.

Speaking with P.M.NEWS Sports after the one sided match, coach of Team Lagos, Ayinde Balogun said that he was proud of his players, adding that now that they have qualified for the last eight of the tournament they would not underrate any team.

Team Lagos, who are the runners up in the championship, defeated Benin Republic in their first match played on Monday, while Delta State, who are the defending champions of the tourney sponsored by the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei, beat the team from Bayelsa same day.

Lagos and Delta States will know their opponents in the quarter final after the other matches that were scheduled to take place later Wednesday would have been decided.

Team Ogun will play the boys from Edo State in the third match of the day, while Taraba State and Imo State are scheduled to slug it out on the court in the last match.

The quarter final fixtures are scheduled to hold Thursday with the first fixture starting as early as 9.30am at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
