Nigeria National League, NNL, side Rising Stars Football Club of Akure have been handed a three-home matche ban for physically assaulting match officials at the Akure Township stadium.

The Akure side who were relegated from the elite division last season have been struggling all through the season and could see things turn for worse with the latest punishment by the NNL leadership.

According to the officials of the NNL, the three home match ban is in line with Article 3.7(4) of the NNL Rules.

Rising Stars next three home matches are now to be played in Ilorin, Kwara State pending the determination of the matter by NFF Disciplinary Committee. The affected fixtures are Rising Stars’ match against Unicem Rovers, Gabros and Bendel Insurance.

Meanwhile, Crown FC goalkeeper, Ayo Ojo, has described his side’s Matchday 10 game in the NNL against Apa United as the team’s worst game in the 10-week old season.

The Ogbomoso-based side fell 0-2 to their Makurdi-based counterparts yesterday at the Emmanuel Atongo Stadium, Katsina-Ala.

The defeat has confined Crown FC to the second spot on 18 points one point adrift NNL Division B leaders, Remo Stars who were gifted with a walkover at Divine Warriors in Yenagoa on Saturday.

Ojo said the bitter experience is now history as they have decided to forge ahead with their campaign for promotion.

“Everything was wrong with the match from biased officiating to poor pitch. I palmed away a penalty still the referee ruled it a good goal for Apa United. I’ve never witnessed such officiating in my entire football career. It’s the worst game so far we’ve played in the season.

“We’ve decided to put the bitter experience behind us. We won’t allow it to disturb or derail our ambition for promotion. It has come and gone, we can’t reverse it.

“We’ve shifted our focus to picking a convincing win in the next match so as to climb back to the top spot,” said the Crown FC shot-stopper to supersport.com.
