Chief Coach of the International School, Unilag, ISL, Ijeoma Ernest, has urged the Lagos State Government to keep athletes to be discovered at the ongoing Premier Lotto Lagos School Athletics Championships for the good of the state and the athletes.

Ernest, who had discovered some young athletes and groomed them for ISL, showered encomiums on the organisers of the tourney, but was quick to add that there is every need for athletes discovered to be kept under close watch because they would form the bulk of athletes that would win laurels for Lagos State in the future.

According to him, “Lagos has done what other states of the federation have not done by staging an athletics meet for the schools. I will only advice that the state should endeavour to monitor closely athletes to be discovered at the end of the competition.”

On the ability of ISL to emerge overall champions of the tourney, he argued that he has a very formidable team, adding “ISL has always been a force to reckon with in school sports. We are one of the few schools that train with the best facilities in the country. Despite this, we are not going to underrate other competitors.”
