Estate Tennis Club Holds Femi Makinde Tourney

As part of its preparation for the forthcoming inter-club tournament with Oyo Sporting Club, the Estate Lawn Tennis Club, Jakande Estate, Isolo, has organised a month-long tournament tagged Femi Makinde Singles Tournament for its players.

The tournament which served off 2 March will end on 1 April. Top four seeds will fight for honour with some younger talents in the club.

President of the club, Alhaji Lanre Aminu said that the championship is expected to motivate and sharpen the skills of the top players in the club ahead of the inter-club tourney which he said will take place in Oyo State.

“Our top players, both young and veterans are fighting for honours at this year’s Femi Akinmade’s Singles Tournament to prepare themselves for the inter-club tournament with Oyo Sporting Club which will take place from 12-13 April in Oyo State,” he said.

Players participating in the tournament include Tony Ihuoma, Jimi Ogunmokun, the sponsor; Femi Akinmade and Engr. Tunde Oyetayo.  Others include Tunde Olomu, Ayo Abiloro, Lasisi Adeoye, Lanre Aminu, Dapo Salami and Sam Otolo.

The club’s srcibe, Evang. Ademola Oduntan said that the competition  “will be very challenging and exciting for players and members of the club. There is a giant trophy and prize money for winners at the end of the day.”
