The Lagos State Commissioner for local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Ademorin Kuye, has warned all elected officials of the 20 local governments and 37 local council development areas to desist from travelling out of the state with their official cars without approval for such trips.

He gave the warning at the Ojo Local Government Area Secretariat during the official presentation of vehicles to the Neighbourhood Watch, Local Government Commission, Market Leaders, Environmental Sanitation and Projects Monitoring departments within the local council area.

He said anyone caught would pay heavily for such, giving an instance where a councillor in the state gave his official car to a friend to travel to Kwara State and was involved in a ghastly motor accident.

He therefore appealed to council officials to always seek approval before embarking on any journey outside the state with their official vehicles.

Durosinmi also stated that the gesture is part of his administration’s policy thrust from its inception to invest in human and capital development so as to sustain the transformation of the local government.

He equally charged the beneficiaries of the gesture to heed the words of the commissioner and handle the items as their personal properties.
