Former Flying Eagles Coach, Tunde Disu has counseled coaches on how to win a football tournament without stress.
Disu disclosed this during the draws for Prince of Hope Soccer Tournament held Wednesday at the Jogapef Event Centre, Ipaja, Lagos.
The tournament is sponsored by a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Prince Adebisi Yusuff. A total of 150 teams are expected to take part in the championship, which kicks off Saturday at the Alade Sports Complex,Ipaja, Lagos.
Disu explained that some coaches fail in their assignment because they don’t have game plan before matches. He stated that many grassroots coaches cannot read a match which affects the style of team’s play.
“Our grassroots coaches need to be educated and understand the trend of the game, football has gone scientific, a coach should know how to read the game and have his game plan before the match,” he said.
Disu, who was tinkered the defunct Nitel Football Club of Lagos charged coaches to encourage players to watch video clips of matches and read sports magazine so as to improve in their performance.
He advised coaches to train their players regularly and involve them in fitness training if such teams want to win a match.
The chairman organizing committee,Dele Ojo thanked Disu for educating the coaches on how to win their opponents. He also charged the participating teams to abide the rules governing the game.
