As part of the preparations for the Confederations Cup and the reverse World Cup qualifying fixture against Kenya, African champions Nigeria will lock horns with the Honduras national team, nicknamed Los Catrachos on 26 May in Washington D.C, United States.
Acording to Allnigeriasoccer.com, the exhibition match has been confirmed by the president of Federación Nacional Autónoma de Fútbol de Honduras, Rafael Callejas.
Manager Luis Fernando Suárez is using the friendly against Nigeria to fine-tune his strategies ahead of crucial World Cup qualifiers against Costa Rica, Jamaica and United States in June.
Both countries have never met before at senior international level, but have played each other in age grade tournaments.
At the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, Nigeria were losing 1-3 to the Hondurans with 12 minutes of normal time left only to be saved by goals from Victor Agali (78th) and Yakubu Aiyegbeni (90th).
The Honduras match will be coming five days before the Super Eagles will play against Mexico national team on 31 May in Texas.
